CHAIRMAN’S ADDRESS

Although I was only appointed Chairman of the SWJCL in November I was asked to write an address for the 2011 Handbook which I was glad to do having dropped off the Committee in 2003, always to return.

The weather was kinder this year but some matches were still affected. Once again the Finals Week was a great success and thanks must go to Ieuan Hughes for his organisation and the Pontardulais CC ground staff for their support. I would like to congratulate all the winners of the Competitions, with all matches played to a high standard and in good spirit, as were all the League matches during the Season

For 2011 All Clubs who submitted forms for their respective age groups were allocated accordingly to their respective Zones. In 2010 the SWJCL travelled to Lord’s in June, ably organised by Secretary John Davies and supported by Russell Davies who had moved into the position of President after the loss of Bill Edwards OBE.

For the 2011 Season the SWJCL will be increasing the number of Representative matches, perhaps back to the earlier years when the SWJCL played matches across Wales and the South of England.

I would like to thank all the Sponsors, especially our main Sponsor W. Walters Engineers Ltd for their support during 2010 Season and for their continued support in 2011. These are essential to allow the SWJCL to flourish.

I would like to thank all the SWJCL Committee for all their hard work during 2010, and also all the Officials, Chairman Peter Williams, Vice Chairman Nigel Clayton, Secretary John Davies, Assistant Secretary Ieuan Hughes, Treasurer Brinley John.

Finally thanks to all Club Coaches who work tirelessly behind the scenes with all the players, making the SWJCL one of the best Junior Cricket Leagues in Great Britain.

I would like to wish all Clubs all the very best for the 2011 Season, successful both on and off the field.
